Artist statement
The diversity of watercolors has paved the way for my emotional photography. Sensitivity unites all my paintings, but my style is bold and experimental. Sensitivity is self-knowledge and truth about one's own feelings and boundaries. When painting, it introduces the artist to the description of themself. So, my paintings are self-portraits.
I have been focusing on watercolor painting for four years now. I have found in it much more freedom to move between the work and the space compared to other painting techniques. Watercolors are associated with a lot of prejudice, for example, around themes and style. Most often, they are thought to be mostly delicate landscapes and still life paintings. I enjoy arousing these rigid assumptions. I want to show with how little watercolor painting can be a lot. The nature of watercolor and paper is stubborn and delicate, but with the layering of colors and the possibilities that paper brings, it can also be massive, violent, colorful and fascinating - like a force of nature.
